Map Together: Multiplayer Map Editor

You must also install Editor++ (this is a required dependency)

Features

  • Supports blocks, free blocks, and items.
  • Experimental support for skins (sorta works).
  • 3 servers: Germany, USA, or Australia.
  • Server chat: press shift+enter anywhere to activate.
  • See other players cursor or vehicle position in the map.
  • Unlimited room size, or set a room limit.

Suggestions

  • Air mode for blocks is far more efficient (no columns/pillars)
  • Ghost mode is more efficient than normal block mode
  • Keep trivial placement optimizations enabled
  • If other people placing blocks is causing too much lag, try enabling YOLO Mode

Limitations

  • Validation is only local
  • You must save the map yourself to keep a copy
  • Redo is disabled, and undo is modified to work only on your own actions
  • Custom items are not supported (but they work if you have them in the exact same location as other mappers)
  • Sweeping blocks (backspace) is disabled
  • Setting color via the selection tool is local only
  • Checkpoint link status is local only
  • Some E++ tools and functions may be buggy and can result in a desync (nudging all blocks and items should be okay, but might not delete things properly in some cases; manual deletion should fix)

Known Bugs

  • Pillars and Support Structure blocks can be buggy and result in an unresolvable desync (where 2 conflicting blocks should exist in the same space)
    • You can fix this by disconnecting and then starting a new room via 'invite to current map'
  • Items often will not place if they are placed outside the map bounds (use E++ to increase the height if that is the issue)
  • Skins are buggy
  • There are occasionally crashes (esp when syncing initially), unknown reason
  • Freeblock deletion can sometimes change the placement mode to macroblock mode (issues with ghost and item mode should be resolved)
  • Lock camera to player doesn't work (but just moving your camera to their position works fine)
